Stage 3: Alert Behavior Training

Goal: Train the dog to alert the handler reliably.

Covers:

• Teaching specific alert behaviors (pawing, nudging, barking, or leading to the source).

• Reinforcing correct alert responses consistently.

• Practicing alerts in different rooms and contexts.

• Introducing mild distractions to improve focus.

• Starting short “real-world” simulations of household alerts.
